Discover Northern Kenya: Rare Species and Immersive Safari

This 6-day adventure kicks off in the heart of Kenya’s vibrant capital before heading north into the wild. Your journey begins with a stay at a hotel in Nairobi, where you'll enjoy a welcome "Beast of a Feast" dinner at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant.

From the city, you'll head into the rugged, dramatic, and pristine landscapes of the Samburu ecosystem. Here, you’ll explore scenic riverbanks and track Samburu’s "Special Five"—the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali Ostrich with its blue legs, and the long-necked Gerenuk. Beyond these rare species, you will scan the riverine forests for the high-density populations of leopards and lions that patrol the Ewaso Nyiro River. You may also encounter large herds of elephants crossing the brown waters, as well as cheetahs, African wild dogs, and hippos. For a more intimate connection to the land, you can visit a local Samburu village to learn about the vibrant traditions and beadwork of the local people.

Finally, you’ll transition to the high plains of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki. Staying at a premier camp or lodge, this final leg focuses heavily on specialized conservation. As the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, it offers a complete Big Five experience (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) against the stunning backdrop of Mount Kenya. You can participate in unique activities such as tracking collared lions with researchers, meeting Baraka the blind black rhino, or taking a night game drive to spot elusive nocturnal species like aardvarks, bat-eared foxes, and caracals. Your journey concludes with visits to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and the world’s last remaining Northern White Rhinos, Najin and Fatu.
